Both, honey and milk have been used for treating insomnia since ancient times. They can be used individually in treating this problem, but when combined together, their power is doubled.
Although it is sugary food, honey causes controlled increase of the insulin levels which stimulates the release of tryptophan in the brain.
Tryptophan is usually transformed into serotonin, which causes a sensation of relaxation. In addition, serotonin is turned into melatonin which allows better sleep.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
● 6 oz of milk
● 1 drop of vanilla extract
● 1 teaspoon of honey
Preparation:
Pour the milk in small saucepan and apply it on heat. It should become warmer, it mustn’t reach the boiling point.
Remove it from the heat and pour it in some glass in which you added the vanilla and honey.
Mix the ingredients well and drink this potion before sleeping.
Note:
If you are lactose intolerant, you should substitute the milk with lactose free soy, rice or almond milk. The method of preparation stays the same.
